How come some restaurants/bar lounge are imposing service charge?

I don't find it reasonable. I know they've made some mark-ups on their products. So, what's that service charge for?|||I think that is fair enough to charge the customer what is being called a "gratuity".

Many Filipinos when they eat in restaurants they don't even bother to leave a tip to the server. These people don't make that good money and the customers tips as what is commonly known are highly appreciated.

Businesses are there to make profits and if they mark their prices up that is because there are a lot of things to be covered as expenditures.

So if you feel in your heart that charging you for gratuity as we call here in the U.S. is not for you then, I suggest you don't dine outside.|||This is one of the ways how Restaurant Management protect their customers from what everyone should really fear : The REvEnge of the Waiters.... if a restaurant does not impose a Service Charge, don't even think of fighting with the waiter.. or you'll never gonna know whats in the food you're eating... YumYUm!|||i can't speak for them but i think it's more of adding take-home pay for their crews. the waiters/waitresses mostly receive the minimum wage kasi.|||I believe it is called greed

But if it is you the waiters or janitors etc. Then it is called thoughtfulness|||Boycott these places!
