Can i refuse to pay a service charge in a restaurant ? in the uk?

If they have merely added it to the bill then you can refuse.

What this translates to is that you are expected to pay the service charge, but it is negotiable. If you received poor service then you can refuse. Most reasonable restaurants will want to know why so they can improve.
