Since when does a bank adding a service charge to your account motivate people taking to the streets?

$5 a month? You would think it was $50 a month the way people are acting.

You think the bank doesn't have costs associated with processing millions of debit card transactions per day?

Cmon!|||I believe they've already eliminated it and refunded the money.

Apparently taking to the street works.|||You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. I work in the banking industry, and our goal (not mine, mind you) is to *screw you over* and get as much money as we can.

This is why we've invented such things as "overdraft protection". It's why we reorder all your deposits, to increase the likelihood you will have an overdraft. Yep. We put your credits last, and your big checks first. Then run them that way. It's why we hide things in small print (truth). It's why you pay $3000 more than you think when you buy a house (but it's OK, because we charge it to your loan). But then we sell your loan to some foreigners, so what does it matter to us?

You're sheep.

edit:

Nope, I write the software that screws you over. And they buy it in bulk.|||I don't know what you're talking about. I bank at a small customer-owned Credit Union and I love it.|||When oligopoly in the banking industry means that for many Americans -especially those who live in smaller communities- there may only be two or three banks available in their communities - so those fees have an out-sized impact on American consumers and the ability for many of those consumers to switch to other banks is limited due to a serious lack of competition in the industry.|||It worked, apparently.|||Sounds like the straw that broke the camel's back. You should look that up.|||gjmpd|||Not listening?

BofA dropped their debit card charge of $5 a month last week.|||We really can't expect anything more from the ignorant sheeple crowd, can we? They look for any excuse to ridicule those that #1 are rich and #2 have a different opinion than theirs. Fortunately for us, they have not infiltrated all 57 states yet!! lol lol

@Jack - no, dear, that's called a free-market society...capitalism...doing business. As a free American, I am able to patronize any business I want. The consumer speaks for all not the ignorant sheeple OWS protestors.
