why do banks charge service charge (Rs 10/Rs11.03/1.8%) on irctc transactions where as for other online transactions like flight booking, online shopping, moblie recharges banks do not charge anything.|||In case of mobile recharges, the transaction charges of banks are paid by the telcom provider. They are able to do that because this has become an industry standard, and their margins are high. The same applies to other product suppliers as well.
On the other hand, niether indian railways nor irctc will pay for the transaction charges, and hence it has to be borne by the customer separately.|||Service charge. Nothing is free.
