As a freelance videographer and video editor, am I required to charge service tax in California?

I offer video production services from pre-production to post, as a freelance. Do I need to collect service tax? And also, does it matter if I contract my client, or he/she hires me?|||in Calif. labor is not taxable, you need to go to www.boe.ca.gov to register for sales tax identification and also read the rules there to determine what is and is not taxable

it is always safe to have a contract which spells out exactly what is expected of you and the client

makes future problems much simpler

you will report any and all income from this endeavor no matter how you get the work
