Sheltered Accommodation help with SERVICE CHARGE and SUPPORT CHARGE?
I live in a new bungalow and i have a letter from Magna Housing Assosiation and i am only 58 years old and i cant wait to move in next week, however i got the letter saying Rent = 拢90.01 a week and thats dear but thats life so its ok, but what about service charge and support charge? i dont need these services so can i cancel them or reduce them ALOT?? BIG HELP! x|||Didn't you discuss any of this before accepting the tenancy (or whatever it is)? You should not be having to pay for services that you don't need but if your don't need them why live in sheltered accommodation? It seems to me that, unless you discussed this from the outset, you will be paying for things you do not, yet, need. You should ask to see your contract (in fact you should have a copy of your own).|||The service charge could be to cover the freeholder of the building if it was sold as a leasehold property to the Housing Association, to cover the wages of the staff who work in the building, perhaps fuel , water rates, council taxes, all the types of payment you were paying in your previous property. There may be lifts in the building that have to be serviced, also community washing machines and equipment in the communal rooms.|||you should ring them up and ask them if its all included in the rent. i would have thought you,d have received a breakdown of everything in with your rent. ask them for this.|||I think you can apply for Supporting People assistance in a case like this; living in sheltered accommodation. Get in touch with your local Council and ask them about it.|||where is that I think that is high , but service charges are not included in rent nor support charges unless they supplied a breakdown and that is total rent .|||NO YOU CANT REDUCE THEM , THE TERMS COME WITH SHELTERED ACCOMMODATION, AND YES THEY ARE HIGH CHARGES ,
